Renter's Insurance

If you rent a house or apartment, your landlord's insurance typically only covers the building they are renting to you, not your property.

Renter's insurance is a relatively inexpensive investment that includes coverage for:

Personal Property: Losses from fire, smoke, lightning, vandalism, theft, explosions, windstorms and certain types of water damage.

Additional Living Expenses: If your home is uninhabitable due to a covered loss, such as a fire, a portion of your living expenses may be covered.

Personal Liability: Protection against lawsuits for bodily injury, property damage and personal injury damages such as libel or slander. Specific coverages vary by state.

Flood Insurance

Damage to your home caused by flood water is often not covered by a standard home insurance policy. In most cases, flood insurance is a separate policy that could take up to 30 days to be in place.

Don’t wait until a storm is coming to consider flood insurance - make sure your home and possessions are protected from damage by talking to your agent about your current coverage and additional coverage you may need.

Umbrella Coverage

Umbrella Insurance sits over your auto and home policies to provide an important extra layer of protection. The coverage kicks in when you reach the limit on the underlying liability coverage of your auto and home policies.

Consider if you:

  • Have a young driver on your auto policy.
  • Own a swimming pool or hot tub.
  • Participate in recreational sports or operate recreational vehicles.
  • Own a rental property.
