AAA Opens New Store, DMV Licensing Center

Unique Collaboration with Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union to Serve Greater Glastonbury

AAA Newsroom Background Shape

HARTFORD, CT (September 21, 2020) - AAA is opening a new store and DMV ‘Express’ licensing center in Glastonbury, co-locating with Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union, a unique, first-of-its-kind collaboration that will be to everyone’s benefit.

The location of the new AAA/DMV licensing center and Nutmeg is at 81 House St. in Glastonbury, CT.

The AAA Allied Group has been a long-established partner of the Department of Motor Vehicles and, in more recent years, Nutmeg stepped in to fill a void in southwestern Connecticut – but this unified venture is a first.

“AAA, Nutmeg and the DMV are always looking for opportunities to better serve the community so this collaboration makes perfect sense,” says Karen Christiana, General Manager of Retail for the AAA Allied Group. “AAA approached Nutmeg with the idea and they jumped in with both feet.”

In addition to the DMV Express, the AAA retail location will provide Insurance and auto travel services as well.

“We are living in a day and age where convenience is key. Providing banking, licensing, insurance and travel services all under one roof is a win for our members and for the communities we serve,” says John Holt, President & CEO of Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union.

AAA will be providing the DMV Express services, including renewal of driver licenses and ID cards, replacement (duplicates) of driver licenses, ID cards and learner permits and name changes on driver licenses, ID cards and learner permits. Nutmeg has provided custom technology that creates unique efficiencies in customer service.

Given the current COVID-19 occupancy restrictions, the DMV services provided at the new AAA/Nutmeg location will be by appointment.

"The Department of Motor Vehicles is committed to increasing efficiency and improving services,” says Deputy Commissioner Tony Guerrera. “This collaborative arrangement by two of our valued partners illustrates our unified effort to better serve the people of Connecticut.”

There are now nine AAA DMV Express locations including Avon, Cromwell, Enfield, Glastonbury (new), Manchester, Old Saybrook, Southington, Waterford and West Hartford.

Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union provides DMV Express licensing services in Milford and North Haven.
