CINCINNATI, OH (January 31, 2018) — AAA is pleased to announce that six hotels in the Greater Cincinnati area have earned the coveted AAA Four Diamond Award. The Cincinnatian Hotel continues to be the area’s longest honored AAA Four Diamond recipient receiving the award for its 21st consecutive year, while the recently opened Hotel Covington is a new addition to the list.
“It’s a testament to Cincinnati that we have so many Four Diamond hotel establishments that provide a wonderful sense of comfort for travelers,” said Jenifer Moore, spokesperson for AAA. “Four Diamond lodgings represent the best the hospitality industry has to offer and AAA applauds them for this outstanding achievement.”
A total of 1,676 hotels throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean received the Four Diamond Rating in the past 12 months, qualifying them for this year’s AAA Four Diamond distinction. These elite establishments account for 6.1 percent of the more than 27,000 AAA Inspected & Approved and Diamond Rated hotels.
Built in 1882 and designed as a “Grand Hotel” of the 19th century, the Cincinnatian Hotel has been elegantly restored with a $25 million renovation in 1987 featuring distinguished granite exterior and a marble and walnut grand staircase. The historic hotel has 146 rooms including seven luxurious suites all with contemporary amenities such as glass-enclosed showers, separate soaking tubs and iHome devices in each guest room.
This year, 126 hotels were added to the AAA Four Diamond Award list, including Hotel Covington, located just over the Ohio River in Covington, Kentucky.
Hotel Covington, once a 1907 department store, has been reinvented as a stylish temple for travelers. Guest rooms at this former temple to commerce are a creative synthesis of traditional and modern elements with an emphasis on local decorative objects. Many rooms and public areas are decorated with images of the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, while the elegantly appointed restaurant (specializing in local dishes) opens out onto a courtyard that is an inviting urban nook, perfectly situated for a conversation over beverages or a leisurely dinner.
