PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 1, 2020) Store shelves (in-person and online) are stocked with back-to-school necessities as parents and students check items off their shopping lists. Even though school will look different this year, the National Retail Federation and Proper Insights & Analysis reports that consumers tentatively plan to spend a record amount on back-to-school items this year. Despite not knowing exactly what supplies will be needed for in-person, hybrid and/or remote learning options, parents of students in elementary school through high school are expected to spend $33.9 billion for back to school supplies, breaking a record set back in 2012.
Back to school supplies, especially for hybrid and remote learning, will differ from the norm as families look to purchase computers, tablets, printers, desks, etc.
