CINCINNATI, OH (February 20, 2018) – Warmer temperatures this week may have tri-state travelers thinking of fun in the sun ,and now is the perfect time to begin planning a vacation. Every year, more than half of Americans fail to use all their time off, creating a stock pile of 662 million unused vacation days. AAA, in collaboration with Project: Time Off, knows the most effective remedy for American workers who want to use more vacation days is better planning. Yet only 54 percent of households set aside time to plan the use of their vacation time each year.
“In Cincinnati, 56 percent of employees leave 4,500,412 days unused,” said Jenifer Moore, AAA spokeswoman. “Proper planning allows employees to reap the benefits of taking a break while giving ourselves something to look forward to when there are challenging work days.”
Statewide, more 49 percent of Ohioans leave 21,985, 976 vacation days unused with an untapped economic benefit of nearly $2 million.
Research shows that planners have a distinct advantage over non-planners. Project: Time Off’s The State of American Vacation 2017 report found that planners use more of their time, take longer vacations, and are happier.
“Vacation planning doesn’t have to be stressful,” continues Moore. “AAA has a variety of options via AAA.com or a experienced travel agent to provide peace of mind from the beginning stages of planning to the traveler arriving at their destination.”
AAA suggests the following tips to make your vacation planning a reality:
In addition to AAA’s tips, Project: Time Off created a vacation-planning tool to help employees get their vacation days on the calendar.
