AAA’s “Get Ready For Winter” Event

 With FREE Car Inspections

Friday, Nov. 30th, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Broken Arrow, 101st & Elm store only

November 27, 2018 - - - AAA at 101st & Elm (behind McDonalds) in Broken Arrow will be ‘ground zero’ for winter and holiday travel prep this Friday, Nov. 30. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., all drivers are invited to stop by AAA’s center at 3746 S. Elm Place for FREE battery, tire and fluid inspections.

“With daytime temperatures and overnight lows beginning to usher in Old Man Winter, there’s no time to waste in getting your car checked out,” said Mark Madeja, AAA Oklahoma spokesperson. “Car batteries perform 35 percent less efficiently when the temperature is below 32 degrees. The holiday season is no time to chance a worn out battery.” Car batteries typically last only three to five years.

Giveaways, treats, special deals and holiday refreshments will be served in a festive atmosphere. Recipes for non-alcoholic party drink options will be available to encourage responsible party hosting and safe ride planning.  Those wanting to plan a winter escape will find experienced travel agents to assist.

Oklahomans planning road trips will want to be sure they have activated an AAA membership for rescue protection. The 404,000 Oklahomans who are already members will want to make sure their coverage includes specific areas they will be traveling over the holidays.

AAA Oklahoma rescued 6,672 motorists during the holidays last year (Dec. 23 through Jan. 1). Car battery-related issues, lockouts and flat tires were the leading reasons AAA was called. “AAA’s quick and competent auto technicians allowed them to continue with their plans without major interruption instead of a holiday they would like to forget,” Madeja said.

AAA’s mobile app can be used map travel routes, identify gas prices, find discounts, book hotels and access AAA roadside assistance.
