AAA South Dakota Applauds the South Dakota Senate for Passing SB#93 - A Bill to Protect our Youth
February 13, 2019 – With the passage of Senate Bill 93, lawmakers took a huge step forward in modernizing South Dakota’s current graduated drivers licensing system. AAA applauds the senate which voted yesterday in favor of the bill to help safe guard and protect our young drivers.
“This legislation would make South Dakota’s roads safer for all with two small, but important adjustments to the current law,” said Marilyn Buskohl, AAA spokesperson. “By providing a full year of supervised driving experience with a learner’s permit we would ensure every new driver has the chance to practice driving in all weather conditions with an adult. In addition, the law would add a limit of no more than one young non-family passenger during the restricted minor’s permit,” Buskohl added.
Sponsors of the bill are Senators Deb Soholt, Blake Curd, Bob Ewing and Representatives are Doug Barthel, Mary Duvall, Steven McCleerey, and Mark Willadsen.
The bill now goes to the House for consideration.
