AAA South Dakota Membership Tops 100,000 for First Time Ever
Auto Club to Celebrate with Holiday Open House on Nov. 30
Nov. 29, 2018 – For the first time in its 93-year history, the number of members of AAA South Dakota has exceeded 100,000. The not-for-profit auto club was founded in Mitchell, S.D., in 1925 with just a handful of members.
“Back then, owners of new-fangled contraptions called automobiles got together because they shared common problems, such as finding paved roads, safe garages and reliable repair shops,” said Jared Peterson, president of AAA South Dakota. “Today, people still join AAA to make motoring and travel easier and safer but now they’re looking for dependable roadside assistance, trusted insurance products, world-wide travel agency services and a host of innovative AAA membership benefits like free identity theft protection.”
One thing that hasn’t changed over the years is AAA’s commitment to be an advocate for the motorist, whether it’s working to make roads less risky, encouraging added investment in highways and bridges or making sure new technologies such as self-driving cars are safe and user-friendly.
AAA South Dakota will celebrate its membership milestone with Holiday Open Houses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 30 at all nine of the club’s stores, located in Sioux Falls (2), Rapid City, Pierre, Mitchell, Brookings, Aberdeen, Yankton and Spearfish. Members and nonmembers alike are invited to take advantage of special promotions, giveaways, prizes and refreshments.
“Reaching 100,000 members is a big deal to us at AAA, of course, but it’s really a testament to our members and their loyalty,” said Peterson. “We just want to say thank you to all of the South Dakotans we’ve had the privilege to serve over the years. We continue to always strive to exceed expectations.”
AAA South Dakota has been awarded the Great Service Star Award from the South Dakota Department of Tourism for the sixth year in a row, exemplifying outstanding customer service and satisfaction.
