A single dollar may not seem like much. It might be spare change in a pocket or the cost of a small everyday purchase. But for someone facing hunger, that same dollar can help make a meaningful difference.

At Feeding America, every donated dollar helps stretch resources further. According to the organization, $1 can help provide at least 10 meals for people facing hunger. That means a small gift can help turn surplus food into shared meals, practical support, and relief for families when they need it most.

Hunger touches every community

Food insecurity affects people in every kind of neighborhood and household, but it doesn’t look the same for everyone. For some, it’s a temporary setback after a job loss or emergency expense. For others, it’s a daily challenge shaped by rising costs, limited access, or difficult choices between food and other essentials.

Today, food insecurity is not limited to people without jobs or housing. Many working families still struggle to keep up as grocery costs and other household expenses continue to rise. In communities across the country, local food banks and pantries help fill that gap, offering dependable support and a measure of stability during uncertain times.

A campaign fueled by generosity

This year, AAA again partnered with Feeding America to turn compassion into action through donations, volunteer service, and community support. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to helping neighbors facing hunger and strengthening the local organizations that serve them.

From June 8 to June 12, AAA’s Week of Impact brought people together around one shared goal: helping fight hunger in communities across the country. The effort was focused on helping food banks prepare for the  summer months, when many children lose regular access to school meals and families often face additional pressure on already-stretched budgets.

The success of this year’s campaign demonstrates what can happen when AAA associates, members, and local communities come together for a common cause.

Across AAA Club Alliance, Associates contributed

  • 607 volunteer hours,
  • assembled 3,200 snack packs,
  • collected 1,148 pounds of food,
  • and helped provide 428,000 meals to support hunger relief efforts.

In addition, members contributed through point-of-sale donations and helped provide 1,500 additional meals for people facing hunger.

Participation continued to grow across the campaign, too. Volunteer involvement increased by 78% compared to last year, while snack pack production grew by an impressive 300%, reflecting the incredible generosity and enthusiasm of AAA Associates across the organization.

Together, these efforts strengthened local food banks, supported families experiencing food insecurity, and demonstrated the meaningful impact that can be achieved when people unite behind a shared purpose. There’s something especially powerful about hands-on service. Packing food, sorting donations, and preparing boxes for distribution are simple acts, but each one helps bring comfort, dignity, and nourishment to someone else’s table.

Voices from the AAA team

For many AAA team members, volunteering is more than an activity. It’s a first-hand reminder of how collective effort can support local families. After a day spent lifting and sorting boxes during AAA's hunger relief efforts last year, associate Tom Wilkinson reflected on what the team had accomplished: “I realized our work would help provide food for so many local families.”

Seeing that impact up close left a lasting impression. “If a single prepared box can help provide a family with 10 meals, then the time spent sorting and packing becomes truly worthwhile,” he said. “Even a small amount of time can make a real difference. Small actions add up quickly, especially when we act together.”

Associate Darlene Hayden shared a similar perspective. “Seeing volunteers work together toward the common goal of helping feed those in need was incredibly meaningful,” she said. She noted that support can take many forms, which is why she gives both her time and financial support when she can. “Any contribution we make can have a real impact, and support does not have to be financial. There are many ways to help.”

Experiences like theirs show how generosity, time, and teamwork can create meaningful change for people facing hunger.
