Safeguarding Your Identity

Having your identity stolen can become a costly, time-consuming nightmare. While there’s no way to stop identity theft entirely, you can help prevent it by taking the following measures.

  1. Monitor your credit reports. Review your credit report from the three major credit bureaus—Experian, Equifax and TransUnion—for fraudulent activity.
  2. Check your bank accounts. Examine your accounts for suspicious activity. If you spot something questionable, address it immediately.
  3. Secure your accounts. Create a strong, unique password for each of your accounts, including your social media and email accounts.
