A familiar name is making its grand entrance on the Danube, the Rhine, and the Seine. With its arrival on Europe's greatest rivers, Trafalgar brings its signature authenticity into the heart of grand cities and storybook villages.

For nearly 80 years, the company has guided travelers across 70-plus countries, opening doors to family wineries, living history, and the kind of local encounters that never make it into guidebooks. Now that same passion for genuine connection has come to the water.

Trafalgar has two intimate, 128-passenger ships sailing Europe's rivers this season. Each one carries the quality Trafalgar travelers know well: high crew-to-guest ratios, elegantly appointed cabins in seven categories, wellness amenities, and a team of seasoned specialists on hand to handle every detail. This is river cruising with the ease and warmth Trafalgar has always delivered, now set on some of Europe’s most beautiful waterways.

The Danube: Budapest to Passau

After its spring debut, the Trafalgar Reverie is now sailing through Central Europe between Budapest, Hungary, and Passau, Germany. The eight-day itinerary moves through some of the region’s most storied destinations: the Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage stretch of terraced vineyards and medieval abbey ruins, and elegant cities such as Austria’s Linz and Vienna, with its rich coffeehouse culture.

In Bratislava, a Local Specialist leads one of the journey’s most memorable moments: a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experience called "Life Beyond the Iron Curtain," connecting guests to living Cold War memories in an authentic way. Later, a Be My Guest lunch at Weingut Nikolaihof, Austria's oldest winery, brings guests to the Saahs family table for estate wines and hospitality.

On board, the Reverie’s interiors match the grandeur of its ports of call, with inviting lounges, a fitness center, and a massage room. Optional extensions in Prague and Budapest are available for those who want more time in Central Europe.

The Rhine: Basel to Amsterdam

Aboard the newly launched Trafalgar Verity, which sails between Basel, Switzerland, and Amsterdam, you'll visit icons like the Cologne Cathedral, ride a mini-train past Rüdesheim's vineyards and half-timbered homes, and cruise through the heart of Amsterdam on a traditional salonboot.

Strasbourg's medieval old town is worth an afternoon on foot, and sailing the Middle Rhine Gorge, with its cliffs, ruined castles, and vine-covered slopes, is a memorable experience.

The Be My Guest experience on this journey brings guests to the Bohrer family farm near Breisach for a lunch built around fresh, seasonal produce and generations of Rhine Valley tradition. A MAKE TRAVEL MATTER experience at Weinessiggut Doktorenhof goes deeper still, exploring the centuries-old art of artisanal vinegar-making, a detail of German culinary heritage most visitors never see.

The Verity's blue-and-white décor and marble-accented bathrooms make every return to the ship a pleasure. An optional Lucerne extension is available for those who want to add alpine scenery to the journey.

The Seine: Coming April 2027

Set to debut in April 2027, the Trafalgar Harmonie will bring travelers to the Seine for an unhurried journey through French culture. On board a ship dressed in soft blues and greens, you’ll visit the cider farms of Normandy and the water gardens of Monet at Giverny.

The Best of the Seine with Paris and Normandy itinerary also offers a stop at Rouen’s Gothic cathedral, the village of Auvers-sur-Oise, which inspired Vincent van Gogh, and the quiet, solemn beauty of the Normandy coast. For travelers who want to explore France in an elegant, relaxing way, this is the route.

The Trafalgar difference

What Trafalgar brings to the river is something beyond beautiful ships and well-planned ports of call. It is the Local Specialist who grew up in Bratislava and lived through its history. It is a local farming family setting an extra place at the table and sharing how they've worked this land for generations.

The MAKE TRAVEL MATTER experiences runs through every itinerary. It is a reminder that travel, done well, leaves something positive behind.

River travel moves through the parts of Europe that roads and railways mostly bypass. Trafalgar has been finding its way into places like that for nearly 80 years. Now that expertise extends to the river.

Sailings are underway now through the season, with 2027 departures open for advance booking. Contact your AAA Travel Advisor to book your trip.
