What Roadside Assistance Covers

At the heart of our commitment to Members is the Roadside Assistance program. Available 24/7, it provides protection and peace of mind so you can feel safe and confident on the road. Our emergency services cover the following:

  • Towing: If your car can't be fixed at the roadside, AAA will tow it to the repair facility of your choice. If you choose a AAA Repair Shop, you'll receive 10% off repair labor, a free vehicle health inspection, and more Member-exclusive perks.
    • Classic Members: 40 miles of towing to a AAA Tire & Auto Center—or up to 5 miles to any repair facility, 4 times a year
    • Plus Members: 100 miles of towing, 4 times a year
    • Premier Members: 100 miles of towing, 4 times a year + one 200-mile tow
  • Battery Services: AAA can jump-start your battery or replace it right at the roadside, with a three-year battery warranty included. Get a free battery quote.
  • Flat Tire Assistance: AAA technicians will install your spare tire if you have one. If you don't have a usable spare, they'll tow your vehicle.
  • Emergency Fuel Delivery: If you run out of gas, AAA will bring enough fuel to get you to the nearest station (fuel costs are extra). Note that diesel fuel may not be available everywhere.
  • Lockout Service: If you lock your keys inside your vehicle, AAA will come to help unlock it. If a locksmith is needed, some reimbursement may be available depending on your plan.
  • Winching/Extrication: If your vehicle is stuck in the mud, snow, or a ditch (but still safely reachable), AAA can pull it out.

*When calling 800-AAA-HELP (800-222-4357), your location may be obtained to route your call to the nearest AAA Roadside Assistance Center.

How Does AAA Roadside Assistance Work?

If you're having car trouble, you can request assistance by calling 1-800-AAA-HELP, using the AAA mobile app, or visiting AAA.com.

When you contact us, you'll need to provide your Membership number (on the front of your Membership card). Don't have your card? No problem—we can verify your Membership with other information.

You can also use Roadside Assistance even if you're not driving your usual car or are a passenger. For example, if you borrow a friend's car or get a ride while your own car is in the shop and it breaks down, your AAA plan still provides help when you need it.
