2022 Review: Toyota Corolla Cross

Its namesake was a best seller before many of today’s car buyers were even born. That makes it all the more surprising how modern the all-new Toyota Corolla Cross is.

As crossovers go, the Corolla Cross occupies a sweet spot that’s neither too big nor too small. The interior has room for four adults, though the back seat is better suited to a couple of kiddos. The cargo hold has decent space as well, with as much as 66.8 cubic feet when the rear seatbacks are folded.

There’s also a long list of advanced safety features and plenty of desirable technology on board, including a wireless charging pad and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration.

If the Corolla Cross has a weak point, it’s under the hood. The 169-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder produces just adequate acceleration. Its laid-back performance aside, strong EPA fuel economy estimates make this an attractive daily driver no matter when you came into this world.
