AAA is known for helping people who break down on the roadside. In fact, AAA helps a Member almost every second of every day.1 This might lead you to believe AAA memberships are only for people who have cars. Actually, a membership can benefit anyone—even if you don’t have a car…even if you don’t drive at all.
Your AAA benefits follow you. What does that mean, exactly? It doesn’t have to be your car, and you don’t have to be the driver. In fact, it doesn’t have to be a car at all—AAA will tow your disabled bicycle, too. As long as you’re with the vehicle when a breakdown happens and when service is provided, you can get help from AAA.
Imagine you’re riding with a friend when their car breaks down and leaves you both stranded on the side of a highway. You could use the AAA Mobile® app or call 800-AAA-HELP and request service. AAA will find where you’re stuck and send a service provider your way.

WHAT IF YOU NEVER, EVER NEED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE? DOES A AAA MEMBERSHIP STILL MAKE SENSE?
AAA MEMBERS GET SPECIAL DISCOUNTS
You won’t believe how many discounts you can get with a AAA membership. Save on everything from attraction tickets, to car rentals, to your phone plan. Members who use AAA discounts save enough, on average, to more than outweigh the cost of a Plus membership. That’s about $160 per year.2
There are countless discounts available to Members. To name a few, there’s 1-800 FLOWERS, Shell gas, and enough restaurants to save on eating out every day.
AAA MEMBERSHIPS HELP WITH TRAVEL
These are unusual times. Travel can be unpredictable due to inconsistent regulations. AAA has Travel Advisors to help with your travel planning. They’ll make sure you have everything you need before you go. Your membership will get you discounts on cruises, flights, and hotels.
Check off your to-do list before you leave for your trip. Get a new passport photo and complete an international driving permit application. In some states, you can use DMV services at AAA stores.
Members get access to other tools to make travel planning easier, even without an Advisor. Maps, TripTiks, and Tourbooks are available for you. Some are online, so you can access them without delay.
SO, DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED A AAA MEMBERSHIP?
AAA Members can get roadside assistance for any car that they are with at the time of breakdown and service. Roadside benefits vary based on membership level, but all provide basic services. AAA Members get special discounts to save money, and can also make use of helpful travel services.
A AAA membership can be useful for anyone, even if they don’t have a car. It’s up to you to decide if it’s right for you.
