James MacPherson

James MacPherson has been an automotive writer and broadcaster for nearly 40 years. He hosted The Car Doctor Program on the CBS-owned radio station in Hartford, Connecticut, for many years and has written several thousand articles on vehicle technology, car buying and vehicle maintenance for a wide range of publications, including Tribune Publishing newspapers and U.S. News.

He was also the lead auto reviewer for nearly a decade for the AAA Auto Guide and authored two books for the AAA Auto Guide series: Buying or Leasing a Car and Driving Survival. He holds a master driving instructor license in Connecticut and served on that state’s teen driving task force, which implemented more comprehensive graduated licensing requirements for teen drivers. He is a member of the International Motor Press Association and the New England Motor Press Association.
