How to Go in Ice and Snow

During the winter with its freezing precipitation, reduced visibility and slick surfaces, even a routine drive can quickly turn challenging, or worse, dangerous.
The safety basics of winter driving are tried and true. Motorists should exercise special caution on hills, bridges and curves, and increase their following distance to 8 to 10 seconds under snowy and icy conditions. Windshields and headlights should also be completely clear for better visibility.
Before you go, check windshield wipers and washer fluid level and make sure your vehicle is up to the challenge. AAA stands ready to rescue our members from a variety of common winter driving emergencies, including getting stuck in the snow while on the road, having a dead battery or flat tire, or getting locked out of your vehicle.
