HOW TO INCREASE YOUR HOME’S CURB APPEAL
SIMPLE AND BUDGET-FRIENDLY TIPS

When it comes to crossing items off of your house projects list, we all wish we had an unlimited budget and number of hours to complete everything. However, it doesn’t always have to take a lot of time or money to increase your home’s value and improve its curb appeal. Here are a few simple, budget-friendly ways to get more out of your home.
REPLACE LIGHT FIXTURES
One of the simplest ways to spruce up your home is to update your light fixtures. You can buy new ones, which typically cost $50-$100. Or, you can paint your old ones. Choose a color that matches your front door and shutters to tie everything together. You may even want to consider motion detecting or solar light fixtures for an extra upgrade.
PAINT YOUR FRONT DOOR
Your front door is one of the first impressions someone has of your home. Spruce it up with a fresh coat of paint, which can cost $25-$30 for one gallon. Making it red or another bright color is an easy and affordable way to freshen up the entrance. Take it a few steps further by adding a seasonal wreath or some potted plants to brighten up the area.
DEEP CLEAN YOUR WINDOWS
A little sparkle goes a long way when driving by a home. Cleaning your windows is free (if you already have cleaner and rags) and all it takes is a little elbow grease. If you don’t have a cleaner, most will cost you less than $5.
As an added touch, you may want to consider replacing the screens in the windows if they are in need of repair. This can cost a few extra dollars, but can make your windows and home look well put together.
TEND TO YOUR LAWN
You can keep this simple, or you can invest more time and money depending on what outcome you’d like. Start by mowing the grass, trimming, and edging the yard. Pick up all excess debris, like sticks and leaves, and take time to groom the flower beds by removing weeds and pruning bushes or hedges. You may even want to lay a fresh batch of mulch or plant some new flowers to freshen up the space.
UPGRADE YOUR MAILBOX
Whether you buy a new one or paint your old one, upgrading your mailbox could cost $30 or less. Mailboxes can be a fun accessory that can make a statement in your yard with just a little creativity and effort. Perhaps you can plant some flowers around the base. Add a pop of color by painting it or giving it bright or fancy numbers on the side.
