Florida Strawberry Shortcut Shortcake Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/3 cup milk at room temperature
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup sour cream at room temperature
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Two pounds of fresh Florida strawberries
- Whipping cream
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat the oven as directed on the package for a 13" x 9" sheet pan.
- Grease the pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- Combine all the dry ingredients and whisk together.
- Add wet ingredients to dry and mix until combined. You can mix by hand or with an electric mixer on low for 2 minutes.
- Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then turn the pan out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, place in the freezer for 10 minutes; this will make cutting the shapes easier. Or wrap it in plastic and refrigerate till next day.
TO PLATE:
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut rounds of cake. Serve two rounds per person.
- Plate one cake round, add sliced berries and whipping cream on top, then place another round of cake on top of it and repeat.
- You have a beautiful dessert that is sure to impress.
