HISTORY OF THE MID-ATLANTIC FOUNDATION FOR SAFETY & EDUCATION
Having played a prominent role in traffic safety during its more than 100 years in existence, AAA Mid-Atlantic wanted to do more…to have a greater impact. So in 2001, AAA Mid-Atlantic formed the Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education, a tax exempt 501 (c) (3) non-profit, charitable organization. In doing so, the Foundation has allowed AAA Mid-Atlantic to accomplish far more than it could ever have achieved through its Traffic Safety department.
The Foundation’s mission, “Prevent fatalities and reduce injuries through traffic and travel awareness and safety education,” has strategically guided the Foundation since its incorporation. The Foundation provides programming in five states (Delaware, Maryland, Philadelphia Metro area and Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, Central and West New Jersey, and Southern Virginia including Washington, D.C.) and our corporate headquarters is located in Wilmington, Delaware.
Our knowledgeable staff members promote safety though community involvement, hands-on training and dynamic presentations using the latest technology. We offer a wide scope of educational programs with specific emphasis on AAA school safety patrols, school bus safety, child passenger safety, teen driving, distracted driving and senior mobility, to name a few.
As you click through our webpage, AAA.com/Foundation, it is our hope that you will gain an understanding of who we are and the many valuable traffic safety programs we offer. We are funded by the generous support of AAA members and the general public and we are dedicated to educating, training and raising the level of traffic and travel safety awareness for all.
