Where did you visit in Africa?
I visited Cape Town, the Winelands, and Kruger National Park
What surprised you most about traveling to Africa?
Cape Town surprised me the most – felt very safe in the area we stayed near the waterfront, lots of outdoor entertainment, excellent food, and beautiful views. Nearby beaches were so beautiful and people so friendly.
What was your favorite part of the trip?
The most exhilarating part of the trip was the safari. Nothing like early morning game drives to be greeted by the rising sun, watching elephants taking down limbs for their breakfast. We were so close! Staying at the private lodge ensured the up close views without the public traffic otherwise experienced on safari. I also really enjoyed Boulder’s Beach with the penguin colony. Their babies were hatching and so much fun to watch!
What advice would give someone traveling to Africa?
Work with a professional travel consultant to ensure your expectations are met and even exceeded! Take malaria pills along, bring a light jacket, binoculars, and a great camera!

Where did you visit in Africa?
I went to Kenya. I would go back at a moment’s notice. I am always recommending people try to visit that continent.
What surprised you most about traveling to Africa?
First, the food was western. Of course, that is from the influence of the earlier governments. Secondly, the government and citizens of Kenya are serious stewards of the wildlife, as well as the environment.
What was your favorite part of the trip?
The luxury tents were simply wonderful. We were given hot water bottles in the beds for our feet. It was heavenly. I loved the evening game drives. I would probably suggest that people do the morning and evening, over the midday. Seeing all the animals in their natural habitat was thrilling, especially the big cats.
What advice would give someone traveling to Africa?
Take a refillable water bottle. I had one made of silicon and which could be rolled up when not in use. Pack light weight clothing and not much of it. You do not need it. A hat is a MUST. You will be on a small plane and the luggage needs to be soft sided and weigh less than 33 lbs. Take insect wipes. Take more cash than you think. Local guides earn their tips. When you go on safari, there are drivers and spotters.
Begin your love affair with Kenya, enjoy some of the most prolific game viewing and feel a true connection with Africa and its beautiful people on this (value packed) exclusive, tailor-made safari adventure. Stay at unique safari clubs and luxurious camps and lodges, where spectacular views, remote locations, and comfort all go hand in hand. Discover the grand Masai Mara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and witness herds of wildebeests, zebra, and antelope move across the savanna. See endangered animals up close at and spot the ‘Samburu five’. Enjoy monitoring and gathering vital research on a lion tracking exercise while at Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Visit Kenya's only chimpanzee sanctuary. Enjoy a bush dinner under a star-studded African sky.

Where did you visit in Africa?
Two trips. South Africa and Kenya
What surprised you most about traveling to Africa?
No matter how much you read and prepare, it was the stunning vistas and how wide open Kenya was.
What was your favorite part of the trip?
The friendliness of everyone in both countries, as well as the animals of course.
What advice would give someone traveling to Africa?
Make sure you have plenty of space on your cameras as well as backup batteries. The number one piece of advice I received though was to put the cameras down and soak it in.
