The risk isn’t the risk. The risk is taking no risk at all.

The risk is just sitting there. Doing nothing. With the A/C cranked.

The risk is no surprises.

No juicy plot twists. No loop de loops or cul-de-sacs.

The danger is no discomfort.

No falling down. No growing pains. No goose bumps. No I’m-sorry’s.  No I’m-stronger-for-its.

The hazards lie in never wondering.

Never looking.

Never pushing forward to see what’s at the end of just a little bit too far.

The risk is trembling underneath the covers every time it thunders.

Instead of, sometimes, taking on the storm headfirst.

Because, the purpose in life isn’t to avoid every single risk.

It’s to find someone to cover your back, so you can take the right ones.
