Packing can be the biggest challenge to getting ready for your next getaway. To make the process easier, here are five simple hacks you can use while packing up:
1. USE PACKING SQUARES
They can help you pack and organize smaller items, or organize your wardrobe into outfits. Most manufacturers sell packing squares in nesting sets so you have a variety of sizes to work with. Many packing squares are breathable with at least one mesh panel. Throw a dryer sheet in your clothing packing squares to keep outfits smelling fresh.
2. TAKE THE SHOWER CAP FROM THE HOTEL
Every hotel room generally has a shower cap available for you to take. Rather than using them in the shower, consider putting them over the bottoms of your shoes in your luggage. This will keep the dirt off your clothes, and the elastic band keeps the shower cap tight around your shoes so it doesn’t come loose.
3. DOUBLE STUFF YOUR SHOES
Shoes take up a lot of valuable real estate in your bag, and to make matters worse, many travelers don’t take advantage of the empty space inside. Stuff your shoes with socks or belts to take advantage of this extra space.
4. BE BOTTOM HEAVY
Always pack the heaviest items towards the bottom of your suitcase, near the wheels. This makes the suitcase much easier to wheel since the weight is centered in one location.
5. IF YOU NEED TO SHAVE, TAKE A BINDER CLIP
If you’re concerned that your standard razor may damage your clothes or bag, place the bladed end into an office binder clip. This will keep the blades from digging into your other belongings.
